TRICKLE UP ECOMONICS?
President Regan used the term "Trickle down economics" to argue that increases in the wealth of the rich will trickle down to the poor. The El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board (PSB) got it backwards. PSB policies cause the money and water of the poor to trickle up to the rich.
The PSB has raised the price of water by 93%. This has caused customers to pay around $50 million a year more for 6% less water.
The PSB uses the money to subsidize new housing developments. They use the water to supply these developments.
Why does our local government rob the poor to subsidize the rich?
